What your day will look like

Workshop Duration: 7-8 hours

Morning Session (Theory & Practice)

Welcome and Introductions

A relaxed start to the day with introductions, creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Introduction to Wildlife Photography

This theory session will cover the fundamentals of wildlife photography in an easy-to-understand way, avoiding overly technical jargon. Topics include:

  • Basic camera settings (aperture, shutter speed, ISO) and how they affect your images.

  • Understanding exposure and how to achieve correct exposure in different lighting conditions.

  • Focusing techniques for capturing sharp images of moving subjects.

  • Compositional guidelines for creating visually appealing wildlife photos (rule of thirds, leading lines, etc.).

  • Ethical wildlife photography practices – respecting wildlife and their habitats.

Hands-on Practice with Props

We'll use props in the classroom to practice the concepts learned in the theory session. This will allow you to experiment with different camera settings and see the results immediately.

Before and After Exercise

Participants will take a "before" photo of a simple subject. After practising the techniques learned, they will take an "after" photo to visually demonstrate their improvement.

Afternoon Session (Field Practice)

On-Site Photography Excursion

We'll venture out as a group to different areas within the workshop location, putting our newly acquired knowledge into practice in a real-world setting. This will be a safe and supportive environment to learn and experiment.

Guided Practice and Individual Support

I will be on hand throughout the field session to provide individual guidance, answer questions, and offer tips and feedback. This is a great opportunity to get personalised advice and refine your technique.

Continued Before and After

Participants will be encouraged to take more before and after shots in the field, further reinforcing their learning.

Networking and Sharing

The field session will also provide opportunities to chat with other participants, share experiences, and build connections.

Wrap-Up

Image Review and Feedback (Optional)

If time allows, we'll have a brief informal review of some of the images taken during the day.

Prize for Best Image

A small prize will be awarded for the image voted "best" by the group. This is meant to be a fun and encouraging element of the workshop.

WhatsApp Group Invitation

Participants will be invited to join a dedicated WhatsApp group to continue learning, sharing images, and connecting with other women in the group. This will foster a supportive community and open up opportunities for future photography outings.

Q&A and Closing Remarks

A final opportunity to ask any remaining questions and summarise the key takeaways from the workshop.
