Based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, Rosie Dutton is an award-winning wildlife photographer specialising in capturing the beauty of British wildlife, both on land and in the sea.
Her work has garnered significant recognition, including features in prominent publications and selections for prestigious competitions like the British Wildlife Photography Awards and the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards.
Beyond her personal photography, Dutton actively contributes to wildlife conservation efforts, working as a Visual Communications Editor for the Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA). Previously a content creator for the RSPB, Rosie prides herself on her love and knowledge of wildlife.

Rodley Female Wildlife Photography Workshop
Workshop Overview:
This full-day workshop is designed specifically for women who are passionate about wildlife and want to learn how to capture stunning images of the natural world. Whether you're a complete beginner or have some basic photography knowledge, this workshop will provide you with the skills and confidence to take your wildlife photography to the next level. We'll create a supportive and comfortable environment where you can learn, experiment, and connect with other like-minded women.
This workshop is a maximum of 10 ladies. Keeping the workshop small enables us to have intimate chats and group work and allows Rosie to offer 121 guidance in the field

Workshop Duration: 7-8 hours
Morning Session (Theory & Practice)
Welcome and Introductions
A relaxed start to the day with introductions, creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
Introduction to Wildlife Photography

This theory session will cover the fundamentals of wildlife photography in an easy-to-understand way, avoiding overly technical jargon.
Topics include:

Basic camera settings (aperture, shutter speed, ISO) and how they affect your images.

Understanding exposure and how to achieve correct exposure in different lighting conditions.

Focusing techniques for capturing sharp images of moving subjects.

Compositional guidelines for creating visually appealing wildlife photos (rule of thirds, leading lines, etc.).

Ethical wildlife photography practices – respecting wildlife and their habitats.
Hands-on Practice with Props
We'll use props in the classroom to practice the concepts learned in the theory session. This will allow you to experiment with different camera settings and see the results immediately.
Before and After Exercise
Participants will take a "before" photo of a simple subject. After practicing the techniques learned throughout the day. At the end of the day you will pick your favourite photo to visually demonstrate your improvement.
Afternoon Session (Field Practice)
On-Site Photography Excursion
We'll venture out as a group to different areas within the workshop location, putting our newly acquired knowledge into practice in a real-world setting. This will be a safe and supportive environment to learn and experiment.
Guided Practice and Individual Support
I will be on hand throughout the field session to provide individual guidance, answer questions, and offer tips and feedback. This is a great opportunity to get personalised advice and refine your technique.
Continued Before and After
Participants will be encouraged to take more before and after shots in the field, further reinforcing their learning.
Networking and Sharing
The field session will also provide opportunities to chat with other participants, share experiences, and build connections.
Wrap-Up
Image Review and Feedback (Optional)
If time allows, we'll have a brief informal review of some of the images taken during the day.
Prize for Best Image
A small prize will be awarded for the image voted "best" by the group. This is meant to be a fun and encouraging element of the workshop.
